Hello,
What is your configuration (windows version, screen resolution) ? when you launch Gazespeaker, does it fill the whole screen ? We are trying to replicate your problem.
Could you please try this in the settings screen : input mode = Mouse movement
-> does the cursor move along to the mouse pointer ?
-> is the cell activated this way the right one ?March 28, 2015 at 10:37 am #7006Hi,
You need to calibrate the Eye Tribe tracker with the Eye Tribe UI. The new version of the Eye Tribe driver (0.9.56) records the last calibration so you don’t need to recalibrate before each session.
1st test : You can check the accuracy of the calibration in the training screen of Gazespeaker: you will see 3 circles representing your left eye gaze, right eye gaze and the average of both eyes directly on the screen. The 3 circles should be displayed at the position where you look. There can be a slight difference between the left and right eye.
2nd test: you can change in the settings screen / user tab / eye tracking block the value of auto-centering: set it to NO (default if Yes) -> this way, in the grids within Gazespeaker the cursor will be exactly where you look
best regards

When you click on the reset button in the calibration screen, you should see any calibration point (circles with red and green dots).
Best
PierreMarch 18, 2015 at 9:49 pm #6991Hi,
Simply go to the calibration screen of Gazespeaker, click on the 0 button (reset calibration) and then calibrate directly with the Eye Tribe (with the EyeTribe UI).
NB: the calibration within Gazespeaker is designed for specific use cases when an adult or caregiver calibrates the eye tracker first and the child or patient calibrates with Gazespeaker in a simplified way.
March 10, 2015 at 9:37 pm #6981Dear Andrew, could you please send us the log file (it is in the Documents/Gazespeaker/Logs directory, and the log file is log.txt (you can send it at postmaster@gazespeaker.org)
The error should be reported in the log file (at the end of the file)
It should work on windows 8.1 (that’s our main development and testing platform), so I suspect there must be some installation or driver errorMarch 1, 2015 at 12:53 pm #6971Hi Ed,
I hope this will help you to communicate with your wife. There are various features and settings in Gazespeaker to adapt the software to your needs.I suggest at the beginning that you calibrate yourself with the Eye Tribe eye tracker and test if your wife can follow an object in the training module: click multiple times on the object icon in order to show/hide the simple objects) and check the where your wife is looking (with the circles representing the eye gaze points)
Afterwards, you can use the simple grids YES /NO, and increase complexity gradually
You can improve calibration with the “double calibration” screen, but we recommend to use this feature only when the user can master gaze attention.
Hope it helps
PierreFebruary 25, 2015 at 1:59 pm #6968Hi Guilherme,
I suppose you set-up the language to portuguese, right ?
You can check the installed voices on your system in the control pannel, programs, programs and features (or uninstall or change a program):in the list of installed programs, you should find :
– Microsoft Server Speech Platform Runtime : version 11.0.7400.345
– Microsoft Server Speech Recognition Language – TELE (pt-PT) : version 11.0.7400.335
– Microsoft Server Speech Text to Speech Voice : version 11.0.7400.335Please check these programs and the version: if you have an earlier version, it will not work because the different modules need to be in version 11.0 -> in this case, uninstall these modules and reinstall the program
February 9, 2015 at 10:32 pm #6963Hi Giogio
I tried to reproduce your configuration on a windows 7 PC but couldn’t reproduce the effect you mention. I will try to further investigate.
PierreFebruary 8, 2015 at 2:41 pm #6960Hi Giorgio, what is your screen resolution and your version of Windows ? We are trying to reproduce your problem.
January 27, 2015 at 11:10 pm #6950We are currently working on a Quiz (Multiple choice questionnaire) feature that will be available in Gazespeaker in a few weeks from now. This could partially answer your question. We will investigate if there could be some additional features that would more completely answer your request.

January 22, 2015 at 10:25 pm #6946We will implement blink support in the next version (it should be released in the following weeks)
January 22, 2015 at 10:23 pm #6945Hi David,
Regarding your first question, it is not possible to launch notepad with Gazespeaker with the current version. We will try to provide this type of feature (launch an external program) in a future version.
For the second question, it is possible to pronounce the text when clicking or activating the text box in the keyboard grid (be sure that the setting “Pronounce all text” in the settings Screen is selected).
If it is useful, we could also include a feature to pronounce the sentence everytime a punctuation is entered (. ; : ? !)
January 11, 2015 at 5:39 pm #6942Hi Paul,
We have updated Gazespeaker to manage the click with a switch or a mouse click. This is now supported by version 1.3.3 (the update is proposed automatically if you have selected automatic update in the settings screen).
To allow the selection of a cell with a mouse click or a switch, you only need to define the setting “selection mode” = click (instead of stare which is the default value, i.e. dwell) in the settings screen
January 7, 2015 at 10:24 pm #6937Yes David, currently blink is not supported. We will investigate the feasibility in future versions.
January 7, 2015 at 10:23 pm #6936Dear Paul,
Yes we will investigate if we can implement this in Gazespeaker. My first guess is that it should be feasible, but we need to perform some tests and a review of the impacts in the code. What kind of device would you use to perform the equivalent of “mouse click” ? -
